YOU DIVINE DISEASE: poem

--

(June 2, 2016)

I wish
I infested your brain like you do mine
You virus, cancer—
benign, “so nice”
How thoughtful to stay
and widen your grip

You drug, pill,
schedule-one narcotic—
you think you’re so freakin’ dope
Bloodshot eyes you give me
With heroin blood, I’m spinning
I’m addicted and your needle
is lost in my veins

You divine disease.
I wish I infected you—
tainted,
corrupted,
corroded
every corner of your body—
like you so selfishly do me

I wish,
but reality and wishes
are very different
