POEM — COLOR PROMPT #9

Lover Boy in Space

🎵: “Importance” by infinite bisous

The sky is a muddy film
Colors are deaf, the blues—heavy brown,
pulling me deep into chasms of marbled, beige emotion

Gravity is dirty-gold, luster, weathered
by burdens of time
crashing against my windshield. God smeared
stale coffee across my blanched cerebral cortex

LOOK, the racer’s genetically-modified
third-eye droops, slow, out-of-focus —
Yesterday and the present
are out of reach,
so it strains for tomorrow
